RITUALS FOR YOUR JEWELRY: CARE, CLEANING & STORAGE
Each piece of PhantasyWorx jewelry is finished by hand — layered, brushed, darkened, softened, and sealed. The rich tones and archetypal colors are not accidents. Nor are the aged patinas, distressed textures, and muted glazes. They are intentional marks of character — quiet alchemy worked into metal.
To create these finishes, I use specialty paints and sealers formulated for jewelry metals. Through brushing, layering, and heat-curing, the surface becomes flexible yet resilient. Still, like all artistic creations, these pieces deserve gentle stewardship. Moisture, chemicals, friction, and constant wear can slowly thin the outer layers and reveal the raw metal beneath. This is not necessarily a flaw — but care will preserve the intended appearance.
Care
Let perfumes, lotions, and cosmetics fully settle into your skin before wearing your jewelry. Remove your jewelry before sleep. Restless movement can twist chains, bend forms, and strain delicate connections. Keep pieces away from prolonged moisture and chemicals. A passing rain or brief splash is rarely harmful, but activities like bathing, swimming, exercise, and chores are best done without your treasures.
Cleaning
Most pieces may be gently wiped with a soft, slightly damp cloth — nothing abrasive, nothing harsh. Metal components may be briefly rinsed in warm water if needed. A trace of mild soap can be used sparingly. Pieces containing stones, crystals, cabochons, paper, textiles, or other delicate elements must never be submerged. Water can weaken adhesives and damage these materials.
Storage
When not worn, allow your jewelry to rest. A jewelry box with separate compartments helps prevent tangling, scratching, and unnecessary wear. Keep pieces away from direct sunlight and from the dry heat of vents or the damp breath of humidity.
Adornment is meant to be worn, lived in, and loved — but like all beautiful things, it lasts longest when treated with intention.
